According to the Royal Society for the Protection for Birds, House sparrows are the most common birds to be found in your average garden. The results have just been announced in its Big Garden Watch, conducted earlier in the year, and show that approximately 400,000 people spotted six million different birds in their gardens throughout January. Starlings, Blackbirds and Blue tits are the next most common birds seen.

Is this the case for all us gardeners?  In West Surrey, we have seen few Starlings and Sparrows.
